Cayman Marriage Requirements
There are no residency requirements for getting married in the Cayman Islands, so you can tie the knot on the day you arrive. There are, however, some documents you will need and some details to take care of in advance:
- Non-residents must obtain a special license granted by the Governor. Although you can obtain and pay for the special license on the wedding day, making arrangements in advance through the Passport and Corporate Services Office will avoid paperwork delays.
- All marriages must be attended by a Cayman Islands Marriage Officer and by two other witnesses. You should make arrangements with an officer before applying for the special license.
- The minimum legal age for getting married is 18.
- Provide proof of citizenship and age (passport or birth certificate and photo ID).
- Provide proof of marital status (certified copy of divorce decree or death certificate, if applicable).
- Provide your immigration card showing legal entry into the Cayman Islands (you receive this card as you clear immigration at the airport), or documentation proving you are a passenger on a cruise ship.
- Marriages must take place between 6:00 AM and 8:00 PM.
If you plan on getting married in the Cayman Islands, you will find many reputable wedding vendors, including event planners, photographers, florists and bakers. Increase the excitement on your special day by purchasing affordable beverages from Jacques Scott Wines & Spirits.
